Buying a car in Turkey

What documents will you need to conclude a contract to purchase a car from a showroom:

Foreigners will also need a passport and a notarized translation of the passport.

Next, you will need to sign a power of attorney to obtain the license plate and registration.

If you want a special number (special numbers or letters), you can choose from the Emniyet website, but this may not always work. Foreigners usually get a special number plate - MA-MZ. Once you get citizenship, you can apply for a normal Turkish number plate.

In addition, the salon requires mandatory insurance. Only after that you get the car!

If you are buying a used car, you will need the following package of documents for the notary:

Registration certificate for the car
Kimliks of both sides
Old car insurance
For foreigners also a passport, residence permit, tax number

In special cases, other documents may be requested.

It is important that at the time of sale the seller should not have any outstanding fines; the MTV tax should be paid; the insurance should be paid and the car should pass the technical inspection (muayene) if it is time.

Interestingly, in both cases you can negotiate the price. In Turkey you can't do without it. The price consists of the actual price of the car and taxes.
